Electrical Outage – Fraternies along 4th Street and Jefferson Ave

The purpose of this shutdown is to permanently remove service provided by Alabama Power and connect the buildings to the UA power grid.Fraternities involved in the swap-over include:
Pi Kappa Alpha, Chi Phi, Phi Kappa Psi, Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Sigma Phi, Kappa Alpha, Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Pi, Phi Sigma Kappa, Delta Chi, Kappa Sigma, Zeta Beta Tau, Alpha Kappa Lambda, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Lambda Chi Alpha and Building # 931 (currently used as UA swing space).

Parking Lot Closure – Smith/Jones Lot

During this time, access to the parking lot will not be allowed from Hackberry Ln.  Access to the west half of the parking lot will be allowed from Margaret Dr. up until excavation towards Smith Hall begins.  This particular date is unknown at this time.
The access road on north side of Mary Harmon Bryant is still planned to be open for traffic no later than Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018.

Lane Closure – University Blvd Westbound between Hackberry and 2nd Ave

Alabama Power will be removing overhead power lines along the north side of University Blvd between Hackberry Lane and 2nd Ave starting Tuesday, January 9th at 9:00 am.  This work will last approximately 4 hours.The west bound lane of University Blvd and the parallel sidewalk running east/west on the north side will be closed to allow for this work.
UA Transportation will be setting up a digital message board well in advance to the east of the closure. 
 
Traffic Detour:
The majority of traffic will be detoured onto 2nd Ave towards Bryant Drive
Access onto 4th Street will be allowed for those who wish to travel 4th Street to Devotie Drive to Hackberry Lane.
 
Attached is a map highlighting the section of roadway to be closed in red. 
The two locations in yellow show where overhead power lines are to be removed that cross University Blvd.  At these two locations, the east bound traffic will be momentarily stopped to allow for this portion of the work.
